Glass calls are a great addition to any turkey vest. Glass has is physically harder than slate and offers a higher pitch sound that includes some rasp in it. Glass can be less forgiving if you are new to pot calls, but, after some practice will be second nature.
Michael primaraly uses ambrosia maple, walnut, or purpleheart to make his glass calls and they are made with glass over a slate soundboard. All Buckner Slate Pot Calls come with a striker that has been tested with your call.
Michael has only entered one glass call into a callmaker's competition but finished 2nd place when he did in 2009.

Pot calls are one of the easiest calls to use in the woods. It takes very little time to learn how to play a pot call. We teach many people who walk up to our booth, and they are good enough to hunt with one after five minutes of practice. A pot call is also very versitile you have different strikers that you can carry with you to change the sound, and different parts of the call will sound slightly different. This lets you sound like more than one turkey, an advantage when trying to bring in a gobbler. You also have the option of carrying glass & slate calls. This, along with multiple strikers, increses the different sounds you can make with your calls tremendously.

Slate Calls are, for most people, the easiest turkey call to play. A slate call is more forgiving if you don't hold the striker exactly right. You can get very soft yelps and purrs on a slate call that take more practice to do on a glass call.

The Purr Pot is Michael Buckner's finisher call. Finisher calls work exactly the same as slate pot calls except they offer a softer sound making it sound as if the hen has turned and is walking away. These calls are great for if you have a gobbler hang up just out of range.
Much like Michael Buckner's original purr box call, the purr pot is very effective for bringing that old stubborn Tom in the last few yards so you can have a successful hunt. The call is held and played just like a regular slate pot call, and it produces a very soft sound, almost as if the hen is walking away and entices the Tom to chase after her.
Michael’s Purr Pots are made out of walnut, ambrosia maple, or purpleheart and can be purchased with or without a striker.
